Meet the 2018 Golden Colibri Grant Recipient!

We are pleased to announce that Soror Daisy A. Figueroa (Cuevas) from Beta Mu Chapter at University of California, Berkeley has been selected as this year’s winner for our highly competitive Golden Colibri Grant.

“For me, diversity is not just about checking off a box. It’s about having different perspectives, battling with an intersectionality of identities, and occasionally dealing with imposter syndrome. It’s about being able to bring value and representation into spaces that often shun away people like me. It’s about constantly reminding one’s self that you are entitled to what you have earned, and also being able to create bridges between communities and spaces that don’t often come together. And by closing those gaps, uplifting communities and people that have been counted out a long time ago.”
